What?: Fitness and Dance Classes

Below is a description of each of the classes currently being offered by DanceFit Studios in conjunction with Calvert County Parks and Recreation (CCPR). Please check back often as we are always planning new activities.

Information for all classes.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. It is suggested that you bring a water bottle with you to class. Some classes require exercise/yoga mats and some use hand weights (small dumbbells), although all exercises can be done with or without weights. Please feel free to contact the studio if you need help deciding what to purchase for class. Drop-ins are always welcome.

Firm and Tone with Weights (formerly Total Toning for Women)

Excellent total-body workout. Tone and shape from head to toe, with hand weights and floor work. Challenging and fun! Instructor will help you customize the workout to meet your fitness goals. This class is appropriate for most fitness levels. Need exercise/yoga mat and hand weights (can also do exercises without weights). Drop-ins welcome.

Fabulous Abs

45 minute workout focusing on the abdominals. Great way to trim and tone your midsection, strengthen your core and work towards those six-pack abs you’ve always wanted. This class is appropriate for most fitness levels. Need exercise/yoga mat. Drop-ins welcome.

20/20/20 Toning

20 minutes of toning the upper body (using hand weights), 20 minutes of toning the lower body (weights and floor work) and 20 minutes of working the abs. Great overall workout. Instructor will help you customize the workout to meet your fitness goals. This class is appropriate for most fitness levels. Need exercise/yoga mat and hand weights (can also do exercises without weights). Drop-ins welcome.

Movin’ and Groovin’: Mommy (or Daddy!) and Me

Moms, Dads (or Grandparents, Aunts or Uncles): join the fun with your little one. We’ll have a blast with all kinds of creative movement and rhythmic activities set to a variety of cool music from around the world. Non-competitive, playful environment where kids are free to participate at whatever level is comfortable for them. Nice alternative for those who prefer a less structured approach than that of traditional dance studios. Adult participation required! Ages 3 and 4.

Basic Rhythms for the New (or Non) Dancer

Do you want to dance but feel like you have two left feet? Have you taken a dance class with your spouse and found it frustrating to try to learn all the steps? Then this is the class for you! There are no complicated dance steps to master. You’ll learn how to move to the beat of the music as you become more comfortable with the basic rhythms that are the building blocks of dance. A fun, non-competitive environment. Drop-ins welcome.

Zumba!

Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away.  It's different, it's effective and it's FUN!  Ditch the workout-join the party!  Zumba is appropriate for most fitness levels.  And don't forget, men can Zumba too!
